Learning the art of crocheting

Maybe I'm bored or whatever but I'm still sticking to my new year's resolution of doing and learning new things for this year. I have shared earlier here how to make my own fashion accessories (just the basic) and now crocheting picked my interest. I know a lot of people probably learned about crochet during their primary years in their home economics class; but screw me, I skipped it by paying another pal to do it for me! Smart, eh? Anyway, I really don't do girly things when I was smaller.. smaller ok because I'm still young. LOL. Thanks to google who knows everything so I started the project of learning the art of crocheting.

So how did I start? Well, it's a little bit hard to find tools for crocheting. I'm just lucky that there's available crocheting needles in SM department stores. I got mine in the "Notions" section in SM North EDSA, it's located in 3rd floor near counter 34. For my first project I did a round scarf. I used yarns for this and not crochet thread. For the needle size, I got Size 8. Since I don't know whether I'll be successful, I only bought two sets of yarns. I picked colors brown and blue. The brand is Monaco acrylic yarn and it costs Php24.75. Lucky for me, I got the technique fast and I really find crochet a fascinating activity, especially when I was able to made the first lock, and the rest was history.

But since I'm never contented with few colors, I braved Divisoria just to find the cheapest yarns in Tabora. The hell with the scorching heat, the noise and a lot of people in Divisoria. I got what I want. Guess what, from the Php 24.75 in SM malls, I got these yarns Php 10 each. Amazing right!!!! To get to Tabora, you just need to walk through the street of Claro M. Recto (Opposite direction the U-belt area) until you reach the Tabora, it's next to Ylaya, the textile capital of Divisoria.

So for my first finish product, I got this blue round scarf. Well, I'm planning to give this round scarf to my Korean friend Miniee when hopefully, next month when I go to Korea.

Goodbye to the dancing dragon

New year and new hope!!! A new book of life is about to unfold this year with 2013 already smiling at us. We already bid goodbye to the dancing dragon and this year it's gonna be the changing snake who will ride to colorful journey of life. But before the book of the dancing dragon closed, I just want to look back to the previous year that really taught me a lot of lessons in life. It's full of opportunity, success, a little bit of misery but meaningful in general. I felt that the dragon year had really tested my courage and my spirit to the fullest. Well as they say its all's well that ends well.

and the highlight of this year was being able to establish our own business with Ann Perreras as our Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and Emy Ruth Gianan as our Creative Director (CD) LOL I just invented those titles but we are all the BOSS of our own fashion accessories business. Perky Quirky Burloloy: The newest and to be the hottest online shop in town!

Remember that I shared with you here that I really want to be an entrepreneur. Well, I guess dreams do come true. The key word really is DREAM, BELIEVE and ACHIEVE. I may have a some short of mishap this past few months, but it cannot be denied that there are positive things that have happened to me, one of which is the "Burloloy" the online accessories shop that we have opened. Of course, this online shop will not be possible without the help of my partners in crime, my creative and talented friends Emyruth and Ann (free promotion uy!)

It's funny and at the same time amazing because this was an overnight project. We have a night of "me-session" then presto! we decided to execute the plan right after... when I said right after as in "agad-agad". It only goes to show that if you really want something, and being with the right people, everything will be possible. So anyway, the conception of the "Burloloy" was rooted from the principle that everyone should aspire beauty and that every girl deserves to feel good and to always feel beautiful. I am a fashion lover and I know the feeling of being empowered whenever I wore accessories to suit up my simple get up. Our shop knows no class of people, as long as you are a woman, a girl, a daughter, a mother or an effeminate we have products that will surely suit you. We named our shop 'Burloloy' to make it accessible to everyone because we believe that every girl deserves a piece of adornment to be empowered.

Before I face my hell week (yeah it's already finals and so help me God), I decided to take a walk in Trinoma mall to somehow prepare and compose myself. I don't want to be "emo" for next week. It's a good thing that our crim law professor suddenly cancelled our class earlier today. Sadly, it was too late because I already declined the invitation of Emyruth who will be turning 21 tomorrow. (Happy birthday!) In any case, she will treat us to the movie premier of Dr. Seuss Lorax tomorrow so thank you so much in advance teh!:p

Anyway, while strolling in Trinoma earlier, I was having a strong urge of buying new shoes. (I am "emo" anyway and I haven't got a pair of shoes for this month) My plan was just to do window shopping. When I got to the Landmark, I saw this "SALE" sign and just like any sale-addict person, I told myself that this is the smartest day to buy a new pair of shoes for this month. So I grabbed the shoes that I first saw and asked the sales lady whether they have my size. However, while they were checking for the availability of the shoes, I saw another shoes that catches my attention; it was really cute but it was quite expensive than the first one I saw. I was really inclined to buying both shoes but suddenly I remember my new year's resolution that as much as possible I will only buy a pair of shoes each month. Since I cannot decide, I left both shoes and went out the Landmark and just to continue my window shopping.

My next stop was in Pop Culture store in Trinoma Mall. I really love the Pop Culture store since I usually saw good and unique stuffs there. I was not mistaken! When I got to "the ramp" stall, I grabbed this black pumps. Of course since I'm "kuripot" the first thing that I looked into was the price of the shoes and to my surprise, it's super sale!OMG!

When I said super sale, it's indeed sale. From it's original price of 990php, I bought this shoes 50 off at 495php. I saved a lot (Yey!). It's also a good thing that I resisted from buying the shoes that I saw in Landmark because this black pumps was really meant to be part of my price possession.

But wait there is more! (Don't worry, I only bought one pair of shoes because I am sticking to my promise) I also went to the "Girl Shoppe" without really planning to buy anything, until I saw one.

Obviously it's already on my possession. Hahaha This is in preparation for the "new look" that my BFFs and I need to accomplish for our 12 things to do in 2012. Instead of cutting my hair short again, I will try to grow it a little longer. I will not repeat my craziness last year where I had a total make-over getting a very short bob red-dyed hair.

It's black on a Sat!

Hey yeah! It's Saturday! I particularly love this Saturday since I only have one class in the afternoon which is Legal Philosophy under Atty. Rene Saguisag. Also, today is a special day for our block since we are semi-finalist in the Mootcourt Competition which is the reason why we don't have class in Public International Law in the morning.

Despite the fact that we don't have a class in the morning, I still woke up early so I can help Julie, my friend in lawschool, who is also one of our oralist for the mootcourt competition, to prepare herself emotionally, do her make-up and fix her hair. Since I am a very supportive friend (hahaha self-serving statement I know!) I obliged gratuitously. Anyway, for the mootcourt competition, we are required to wear a formal attire, but since I don't know if I will be able to watch the competition becauseI have a class in the afternoon I decided to play it safe and just wear a semi-formal yet chic attire.

I really love the effect of the necklace over my black top. I bought the necklace in Eastwood tiangge yesterday and presto! I have a cool outfit for today! I also love the fact that it matches my leopard bag.The original price of the necklace was pegged at 200php but I managed to haggle the price to 150php (So sulit!)

Well, we didn't win in the mootcourt competition but still I am happy for my friend Julie because the judges told her that she has the "X-Factor" in mooting! So proud of her.

After my class I went to see my best friend Juijui and while on our way home, we saw this cute little puppy. I will blog about it next time! :)
